The Walt Disney Co. unveiled a website on Tuesday featuring a digital library of more than 500 full-color illustrated storybooks for young readers.

DisneyDigitalBooks.com, an initiative of Disney Publishing Worldwide, is a subscription service. It costs $8.95 a month or $79.95 for an annual subscription.

Disney, in a statement, described its digital book venture as "a new, cutting-edge way for children to experience the joy of reading in a robust and safe interactive environment."

The books include classics such as Cinderella and Winnie the Pooh along with Disney franchises such as Mickey Mouse, Toy Story, Cars, and Hannah Montana.

Interactive features include a "Look and Listen" feature that allows for a story to be read aloud. Readers can also click on individual words in a story to receive a dictionary definition.

Children can also create their own stories with words and pictures through a feature known as "Story-Builder."
