Former army chief and Presidential candidate Sarath Fonseka’s court martial began on Tuesday five weeks after he was arrested by the military police on unspecified charges.
Fonseka who quit the army as chief of defence staff in November to fight the Presidential poll in January could be jailed up to five years if convicted.
