The French are more opposed to free market capitalism than the inhabitants of Communist China and other advanced economies, an opinion poll published on Wednesday by pollster IFOP.

Nearly 33% of French people believe it is time to abandon capitalism, the highest proportion among the 10 countries surveyed. 3 per cent of Chinese questioned capitalism while 65% of the Chinese said the current system was working well and should not be changed.
On the other hand, 63% of Australians, 57% of Brazilians and 55% of United States citizens also supported capitalist system. Chinese were the most convinced that wider international trade was in their interest, with 90% answering "yes". United States was the most negative about the impact of expanding international trade (39%).
