US President George W Bush flew into the booming Gulf city state of Dubai on Monday on the latest leg of his Middle East tour.
Bush will be shown some of the landmarks of the usually bustling emirate, which was paralysed after authorities declared a public holiday and closed major roads and bridges in a sweeping and unprecedented security operation.
He flew in to Dubai from the UAE capital Abu Dhabi, and was received at the airport by Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashed al-Maktoum, who is also UAE prime minister and vice president.
Scores of US and international companies operate in Dubai, which has gained world fame for its frenetic growth and extravagant projects ranging from the world's tallest skyscraper to a world-shaped cluster of man-made islands.
