Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry says the country's air force chief has been shot to death by an unknown assailant.
Ministry spokesman Eldar Sabirogly says Lt. Gen Rail Rzayev died Wednesday after being shot in the head.

The ministry gave no further details.
The Azeri news agency Trend says the general was shot outside his home in the capital, Baku.
