Indian educationist honoured by Russian university

An Indian educationist and founder of the only school to receive the coveted UNESCO Prize for Peace Education, has been honoured by a Russian university for his work in the field of pedagogy.

An Indian educationist and founder of the only school to receive the coveted UNESCO Prize for Peace Education, has been honoured by a Russian university for his work in the field of pedagogy.

Jagdish Gandhi, the founder of Lucknow-based City Montessori School (CMS) was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Education at a ceremony yesterday on the occasion of World Teacher's Day by Ufa-based Bashkir State Pedagogical University (BSPU).

"The board members of BSPU have unanimously decided to honour you with the Honorary Doctorate Degree considering the fact that you have devoted 50 long years to the service of society and humanity at large in the field of education and building a world fit for children and generations yet-to-be-born," the citation read.

BSPU is the largest Pedagogical State University of Russian republic of Bashkortostan in the Urals and its rector Prof RM Asadullin presented the Degree to Gandhi in presence of 600 professors of the University.
