Kidnapped Afghan envoy recovered

Afghanistan's consul general to Pakistan Abdul Khaliq Farahi, who was kidnapped last Monday by some unidentified gunmen in northwestern Pakistan, has been released.

"Farahi had reached the city (Peshawar) after his recovery and was safe and sound," The News newspaper said quoting officials.

However, it is not clear how the diplomat was released and who were the kidnappers.

Farahi was abducted by the gunmen disguised as beggars in Peshawar's Hayatabad township Sept 22.

The gunmen attacked the diplomat's vehicle and killed the driver before kidnapping him.
