A 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck northwestern Mexico near the California border on Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The quake was centered 20 miles (33 km) southeast of Mexicali at a depth of 4.3 miles (6.9 km) at 10:48 a.m. local time (1848 GMT).
