A magnitude 6.0 quake struck northern Malawi early on Sunday, close to the Tanzanian border, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported.

The quake struck at 0119 am local time (2319 GMT).

The quake, 9.4 miles (15.2 km) deep, followed a series of quakes in the same area, the uranium-rich Karonga district, earlier this month.
