The Nepal government has expressed regret at an attempt by some Maoist workers to insult Indian Ambassador to the country Rakesh Sood on Thursday.
Sood was greeted by nearly two dozen Maoist workers waving black flags.
The Indian ambassador was on his way to inaugurate some India-aided projects in Solukhumbu district in the Nepal-China border.
Issuing a press statement, the Home Ministry termed the behaviour of the Maoists as "indecent and rude" and expressed its "regret".
Shouting anti-India slogans, the demonstrators led by former minister Gopal Kiranti had also tried to block his convoy. There were also reports that some of them had thrown shoes at the convoy.
Incidentally Kirantiwas also responsible for trying to remove Indian priests from Kathmandu's Pashupathinath Temple two years ago during his stint as minister in the Maoist-led government.
