A moderate 5.0-magnitude earthquake rattled southern California on Thursday but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage, officials said.

The quake was centered near San Bernadino, some 55 miles (88 kilometers) east of Los Angeles at a depth of 8.6 miles, the United States Geological Survey said.
