The epicentre of the quake was located at 31 kilometres south of Chittagong in Southern Bangladesh.
The quake was felt at 2012 IST and was centred at a depth of 28 kms at a latitude of 22.0 degree North and a longitude of 91.8 degree East, the Met office said in a statement.
The south Asian nation sits on active tectonic plates and the country ofter experience mild and moderate tremors.
