The prosecutor general has placed Mubarak's sons, Alaa and Gamal, also in detention for 15 days over the inquiry into the use of force against protestors during the anti-government demonstration in January.

Mubarak, 82, was hospitalised Tuesday in Sharm el-Sheikh tourist resort after he suffered a heart attack during questioning by prosecutors.

He was forced to end his 30-year rule after the 18-day nationwide demonstration and handed over the power to the military Feb 11.

Mubarak has denied all the accusations against him and his family.
