A murder case has been registered against an Indian swami looking after an ashram near the world famous Pashupatinath temple for his alleged involvement in the killing of a six-year-old boy.
The police registered murder cases against Swami Atmasuddhananda, his assistance Sharan Koirala and teenager Keshav Bika in Kathmandu District Court yesterday for their alleged involvement in the killing of Rupesh Giri, Dirgha Bogati, Assistant Sub-inspector at Bouddha Police Station in the capital, told PTI.
16-year-old-boy Bika was the roommate of Giri in Pranavananda Ashram located near the Pashupatinath temple.
Bogati said the three accused have been taken into custody as the police launched a probe into the matter.
According to media reports, Keshav had admitted that he murdered the boy after a dispute over sharing of a bed.
Giri, who was living in the childcare centre, was beaten to death according to preliminary investigations, though the postmortem report is yet to be received.
Kavita Giri, the victims mother, had admitted the boy to the Ashram, which is home to some 60 children, in the hope of receive free education and food.
