Pakistan on Wednesday decided to grant India the MFN status.

Gilani told reporters in Lahore on Friday that national interest would be priority in the trade dialogue with India.

He said the proposal to grant MFN status in trade to India was endorsed by the federal cabinet, reported Associated Press of Pakistan.

To a query, Gilani said patience and tolerance were vital elements of a stable democracy and political parties must respect people’s sentiments vis-a-vis the mandate of other political parties.

“Protest rallies are no threat to the democratic system in the country and the detractors may do their heart’s bidding,” he said.

There had been a massive turnout at the Oct 30 rally addressed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan in Lahore.

He described Imran Khan as a novice in politics.
