Nikki Haley set to win

Despite her numbers slipping in recent days, Indian-American Republican Nikki Haley is almost certain to become the first-ever woman Governor from the community, as she remains favoured to win the Gubernatorial election in South Carolina.

Despite her numbers slipping in recent days, Indian-American Republican Nikki Haley is almost certain to become the first-ever woman Governor from the community, as she remains favoured to win the Gubernatorial election in South Carolina.

As Haley’s campaign has flagged somewhat, it received a major fund-raising boost fuelled partly by support from Indian-Americans throughout the country. Haley’s has received a huge boost from the community in the last quarter before the polls, with Indian-Americans forming a substantial component of poll funders. A plethora of contributions allowed her to raise an impressive sum — over $2 million in the last quarter.
