Nokia shakes up leadership to tackle rivals

Nokia Corp. is reorganizing its leadership to provide better services to consumers by tackling growing competition from rivals in smart phones and high-end mobile computers.

Nokia Corp. is reorganizing its leadership to provide better services to consumers by tackling growing competition from rivals in smart phones and high-end mobile computers.

A new mobile solutions unit will be led by Anssi Vanjoki, who heads Nokia's markets unit, and will be based on MeeGo and Symbian software platforms that "will be tightly integrated with Nokia's Internet services."

Tuesday's announcement came less than a week after the world's top handset maker said it will launch new smart phones "to help close the gap" with competitors. The changes, including new heads for Nokia's mobile phones and market units, will come into force July 1.
