US President Barack Obama left Saudi Arabia early on Thursday for Cairo where he is to deliver a landmark address laying out his vision for a new US partnership with the Muslim world.

On Thursday afternoon Obama will deliver a personal appeal for reconciliation to the world’s 1.5 billion Muslims, in a speech at Cairo University to fulfill a campaign promise to address the Muslim world after relations soured during the administration of former president George W Bush.
