Twenty-eight Shiite rebels were killed in clashes with soldiers at Uqab west of Saada city in Yemen's mountainous north, the defence ministry has said on its website.
In neighbouring Omran province four soldiers and five rebels died in fighting in the Harf Sufyan district on Wednesday, military officials said as the army continued its "Scorched Earth" operation against the Zaidi rebels.
Meanwhile in south Yemen, two demonstrators were killed and 19 others wounded in clashes with security forces on Wednesday, witnesses and medical officials said.
Hundreds of people have died in northern Yemen and the United Nations estimates 55,000 people have fled their homes since the army began its offensive on August 11.
The authorities accuse the Zaidis, also known as Huthis, of seeking to reinstate the imamate, a form of clerical rule that ended in a republication revolution in 1962, and of being backed by Shiite Iran. The rebels deny both claims and in turn say that the Sanaa government has brought in Saudi warplanes to support the army.
In the southern city of Daleh fighting broke out as security forces confronted protesters who took to the streets to demand the release of people arrested during recent unrest.
Two demonstrators died from gunfire injuries, while 17 other people were wounded, including nine members of the security forces, an opposition source said.
