Pak PM: Foreign hand involved

While Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has promised that Pakistan would deal with acts of terror with an iron hand, the country’s PM told a visiting FBI team that evidence of an external link in Tuesday’s attacks had been found. Kamal Siddiqi reports.

While Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has promised that Pakistan would deal with acts of terror with an iron hand, the country’s PM told a visiting FBI team that evidence of an external link in Tuesday’s attacks had been found.

Local media reported that in a meeting on Wednesday with visiting FBI director Robert Miller, the Pakistan PM informed that evidence had been found of foreign involvement in the attack on the Sri Lankan team.

Prime Minister Gilani also told the FBI official that India was not cooperating with Pakistan on the investigations that related to the Mumbai attacks. Gilani said that Pakistan was waiting for a response on its report from the Indian side.

Meanwhile, Lahore police reported that an FIR had been registered in the case of Tuesday’s attack on the Sri Lankan team against 14 unidentified persons. At the same time, 2 persons were picked up by the elite Special Investigation Unit of the Federal Investigation Agency in Lahore on Wednesday morning in connection with Tuesday’s attack.

Meanwhile, the reserve umpire who was caught in the crossfire continues to fight for his life. Ahsan Raza is in a critical condition at Lahore’s Services Hospital.
