"The entire Filipino nation and Filipinos around the world mourn with the families of those who died and were hurt because of the Mumbai attacks," said deputy presidential spokesman Anthony Golez.

"We condemn these terroristic attacks against the mankind, and we will be united with the entire Indian nation and the rest of the world in

its quest to end terrorism at the soonest time possible," he added.

An undetermined number of gunmen carried out 10 coordinated assaults beginning Wednesday night in wealthy areas in Mumbai in one of India's worst-ever terrorist attacks.

Mumbai remained paralyzed as government forces tried to secure two posh hotels - the Oberaoi Trident hotel and the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower Hotel - where gunmen might still be holding hostages.
