Emergency crews are trying to reach the site of a plane crash in southwest Alaska. Anchorage Daily News quotes Maj Guy Hayes as saying the Alaska Air National Guard was asked to respond after a passing aircraft spotted the wreckage Monday night north of Dillingham.

Hayes reportedly says eight people were reported to be on board. A Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman in Anchorage confirmed the plane crash but could not say how many people were aboard.
