PM wounded in shelling of Yemen mosque

Yemen's premier and parliament speaker were wounded when shelling hit a mosque in the presidential palace compound on Friday, as loyalists and dissident tribesmen clashed in Sanaa, the ruling party said.

Yemen's premier and parliament speaker were wounded when shelling hit a mosque in the presidential palace compound on Friday, as loyalists and dissident tribesmen clashed in Sanaa, the ruling party said.

"The prime minister, the head of parliament and several other officials who attended Friday prayers in the mosque at the presidential palace were wounded in the attack," general people's Congress spokesman Tareq al-Shami said.

"The Ahmar (tribe) have crossed all the red lines," he said, blaming the attack on pro-opposition tribal chief Sheikh Sadiq al-Ahmar whose forces are at war with troops loyal to President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
