A police van heading to India was torched by some people at Raxaul on the Indo-Nepal border, causing minor injuries to some policemen.

A police van heading to India was torched by some people at Raxaul on the Indo-Nepal border, causing minor injuries to some policemen.

The van, on its way to India to purchase some electronic equipment for a police post, was vandalised and torched by locals suspected to be associated with groups of Indian criminals Sanju Baba and Manoj Sahani, police said.

The police personnel, who were on board, immediately fled the scene after the locals attacked the van and some of also sustained minor injuries in the incident, they said.

The incident occurred a week after Nepalese policemen killed two Indian gangsters in Birgunj bordering Raxaul while they were planting bombs in an apartment.

According to Superintendent of Parsa Police Subodh Ghimire the situation was brought under control with the help of Indian policemen.
