The Romney campaign on Friday questioned President Obama’s character over an ad released by an allied political group holding the Republican candidate responsible for a woman’s death.
An ad titled ‘America deserves better’ asks: “What does it say about a president’s character when his campaign tries to use the tragedy of a woman’s death for political gain?”
In an ad released earlier this weekIn an ad released earlier this week, a man says his wife died of cancer because he couldn’t afford her treatment after losing his job because of Bain Capital, which Romney co-founded.
The ad was released by Priorities USA Action, a political group supporting President Obama but technically and legally not supposed to be coordinating with his campaign.
Several non-partisan fact-finders have found the ad lacking in facts. And Obama and his campaign are being urged to condemn it. But it has neither been withdrawn nor condemned.
“This week, the Obama campaign hit a new low,” wrote Matt Rhoades, Romney campaign manager, in a blog. “As if the disgusting and disgraceful ad wasn’t enough, Obama’s advisers lied, claiming they had no knowledge about the content of the ad.”
