A powerful 6.7-magnitude earthquake rocked the remote Kermadec islands north of New Zealand Saturday, seismologists said.

A powerful 6.7-magnitude earthquake rocked the remote Kermadec islands north of New Zealand Saturday, seismologists said.

The quake struck at 12:53 pm (0053 GMT), 10 kilometres (six miles) south of L'Esperance Rock at a depth of just 10 kilometres, the US Geological Survey said.
