Pro-Taliban militants on Monday beheaded three out of 15 tribal elders they had kidnapped two months ago in the lawless Kurram tribal region in northwest Pakistan.

The decapitated bodies of the elders of the Khwedad tribe were found in Chanarak area of Kurram Agency, which borders Afghanistan.

The twelve other abducted tribal elders are still in the custody of militants, sources said.

Militants have abducted and killed dozens of tribal elders in the tribal belt bordering Afghanistan over the past two years.
