Russia said on Friday that the Geneva talks between the six world powers and Iran were cause for "cautious optimism", Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was quoted as saying by Russian agencies on Friday.
"The agreements we reached inspire cautious optimism. Now, the most important thing is for these agreements to be entirely respected within the set timeframe," he said.
During the seven-and-a-half hour meeting in Geneva on Thursday, Iran agreed to offer access to its newly-revealed uranium enrichment site near the holy city of Qom.
Iran's senior nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili met with top envoys from Britain, China, France, Russia, the United States and Germany, known as the P5-plus-1 partners, in a villa overlooking Lake Geneva.
EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana said that the six powers expected IAEA inspections to be allowed into the Qom site within two weeks.
Iran also struck a tentative agreement with the six powers to ship some of its stocks of low enriched uranium abroad for reprocessing into fuel for an internationally-supervised research reactor in Tehran.
The director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Mohamed ElBaradei, is scheduled to travel to Iran in the coming days for talks to follow up on the Geneva meeting.
