An American Airlines terminal at JFK International Airport in New York City was evacuated on Saturday because of a security breach, according to media reports.

Terminal 8 was evacuated and passengers had to be rescreened, Steve Coleman, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, told local media. The agency has jurisdiction over the New York area's three major airports.
A person reportedly entered a secure area without having been screened, Coleman said. No other details were available.
A security breach at Newark International Airport on Jan. 3 triggered a shutdown that delayed thousands of passengers at the end of the holiday weekend.
Authorities a week ago arrested the man suspected of triggering the scare, and charged him with defiant trespass.
Security video later showed the man slipping into a secure area at the airport to give a woman companion a goodbye kiss.
