South Korean prime minister steps down

Han Myong-sook is expected to focus on her job as a lawmaker as well as manage the affairs of her Uri party.

South Korean Prime Minister Han Myong-sook on Wednesday stepped down from her post.

"I am returning to be a politician," Han said at a news briefing in Seoul.

Han had assumed the office as the country's first woman prime minister last April.

"I'll think over for the run in the presidential race," Han told reporters.

Han is expected to focus on her job as a lawmaker as well as manage the affairs of her Uri party.
