Thatcher, 83, dressed in a pink and cream outfit, with her arm in a sling, waved at reporters with the other hand and smiled at them from the doorsteps of her central London Home.

She had fractured her arm after she tripped at her home on June 12, and underwent a surgery at Chelsea and Westminster hospital on June 19 after the injury failed to heal.

A pin was inserted in a bone in her upper arm during the operation.

She has suffered a number of health scares in recent years, including a series of minor strokes.

She had also cut down her commitments, all but stopping speaking public, on advice of doctors several years ago, but continued to attend ceremonial functions.

In May she marked the 30th anniversary of her ascent to power.
