Three millionaires were among the candidates contesting in the upcoming elections for a top post in the Malaysian Indian Congress, the country's largest political outfit of ethnic Indians, a top party official has said.

MIC Information chief Saravanan, who is also Federal Territories deputy minister, did not name the three but expressed confidence that party delegates would make a wise choice in the forthcoming elections.
It is understood that the three were contesting the vice-presidency, a post also contested by Saravanan, who has been endorsed by party chief Samy Vellu.
Recently, Samy Vellu also openly endorsed incumbent deputy president G Palanivel for the party's No 2 post.
He had also endorsed Human Resources Minister and MIC secretary-general S Subramaniam and Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department S K Devamany, besides Saravanan, for the vice-presidency.
72-year-old Vellu won the post of president uncontested, for the 11th term at the presidential election in March.
