Train collision at rly station injures seven in Bangladesh

At least seven people were injured, two of them critically, as two trains collided head on at a busy railway station in Dhaka on Monday, officials and witnesses said.

At least seven people were injured, two of them critically, as two trains collided head on at a busy railway station in Dhaka on Monday, officials and witnesses said.

They said that Mymensingh-bound Ishakha Express and Mahanagar Pravati ran into each other at the main Kamalapur station as one was pulling out and the other pulling into the capital's central terminus.

"We evaded huge casualties as the two trains were moving at a slow space inside the station," Kamalapur Station Manager M A Zinnah told newspersons.

He said the two severely injured were security guards who are being treated at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital along with other wounded passengers.

A railway spokesman said that a four-member committee has been constituted to investigate into the accident.
