UN team in Pakistan to probe Bhutto killing

A United Nations team has arrived in Pakistan to probe the assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.

A United Nations team has arrived in Pakistan to probe the assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.

The UN team, which arrived in Islamabad on Thursday, has summoned senior police officials of Rawalpindi to collect information regarding Butto's killing, the Online news agency reported on Friday.

The police officials are to meet the UN team in Islamabad on Saturday.

Bhutto the first woman prime minister in an Islamic state was killed when a gunman shot her in the neck and set off a bomb while she was leaving an election rally in Rawalpindi Dec 27, 2007. At least 20 other people died in the attack and several more were injured.

Pakistan's Taliban leader Baitullah Meshsud is accused of masterminding the assassination. However, the Taliban commander has denied involvement.
