The drone fired four missiles at a house and an adjacent seminary in Sararogha area of South Waziristan Agency, considered a stronghold of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan led by Baitullah Mehsud.

Most of the five persons killed in the drone attack are believed to be militants, TV news channels quoted officials as saying.

This was the latest in a series of US drone strikes in Pakistan's lawless tribal belt bordering Afghanistan. Pakistan has angrily opposed the missile strikes, describing them as a violation of its sovereignty and counter-productive for the war on terror.

President Asif Ali Zardari, who raised the issue during his current visit to the US for a trilateral summit with the American and Afghan Presidents, has said that Pakistan should be provided drones so that it can conduct such strikes on its own.
