The US military says an American soldier was killed and three were wounded in a helicopter crash in northern Iraq.

The US military says an American soldier was killed and three were wounded in a helicopter crash in northern Iraq.
The military said in a statement on Sunday that the helicopter went down late Saturday evening. The military says the cause of the crash is under investigation but that it was not believed to have been caused by enemy fire.
The name of the soldier killed was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
An Iraqi army officer from the area says the helicopter went down amid rainy and windy weather near Saddam Hussein's hometown of Tikrit.
He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not officially authorized to discuss the case.
