Hafiz Saeed, the patron of terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and head of its front organisation Jammat-ud Dawa (JuD), has claimed that the US is targeting him to win India’s support in Afghanistan.

In an interview to BBC in Pakistan’s Lahore, Saeed, who has been accused by India of motivating 10 suicide attackers who landed in Mumbai on November 26, 2008 via sea from Pakistan and killed 166 people, said America always takes decisions based on Indian dictation. Now it’s imposing this new ban because it needs India’s help in Afghanistan.

“I had nothing to do with the Mumbai attacks, and Pakistan’s courts said all India’s evidence against me was just propaganda,” he said.

Saeed’s accusations came after the US declared JuD a foreign terrorist organisation in order to freezes its assets under US jurisdiction.

Indian security officials said Saeed is plotting terror activities against India.

Suicide attacker wanted to take over Herat consulate building in order to take Indian officials there as hostage.

But due to the prior information of such an attack, security guards posted in the consulate managed to foil the attack.
