Friday's rebel statement says air strikes hit the town of Razeh in the Saada province, where the government is embroiled in a five-year rebellion with Shiite rebels.

Eyewitnesses said that targets bombed early Thursday included a group of women collecting firewood. They declined to give their names, fearing government retribution.

Government officials declined to comment on the strikes. The reports could not be independently verified. Saada, a remote mountain area along the border with Saudi Arabia, has been mostly inaccessible since fighting intensified in August, displacing tens of thousands and cutting off aid.
