Sharif was earlier in the day sulking over a government move to reinstate only eight deposed judges of the Sindh High Court through a presidential order and sent his brother Shahbaz for the talks at the PPP chief's residence here. However, he rejoined the parleys a few hours later.

The two leaders were expected to address a joint press conference at the end of the meeting.

The top leaders of the coalition yesterday agreed "in principle" to impeach President Pervez Musharraf, sources said. However, it was not immediately clear whether tonight's meeting will focus on this issue.

Differences persisted on the other crucial issue of reinstatement of judges deposed by Musharraf during emergency.
