Actor Ali Fazal, who made an impact as Joy Lobo in the Aamir Khan starrer 3 Idiots (2009), will soon be seen as an action hero in his next film. “It’s totally different from what you have seen me playing before. It’s a hardcore action film. The character has both negative and positive shades to it. It’s about a hierarchy,” says Ali.
Fazal, however, refrains from sharing any details about the film, which he will start shooting for in January. “I have a lead role in it. It’s a great script. As I haven’t started working on it, I can’t say much about it,” says Ali, whose last film was Always Kabhi Kabhi.
Coax him a bit more, and the actor divulges that his next is a hard-hitting action film. “It’s a great mix between Virasat (1997), Omkara (2006) and The Godfather (1972),” says Ali adding, “Also, the production house of the film is a big name.”
The actor is also very excited about playing the lead role in filmmaker Rohan Sippy’s musical Broadway Love and All That Jazz, conceived by Chivas Studio. “I had stage experience but playing a character from the ’60s, and singing and dancing to jazz was all very new,” says Ali, who feels performing on stage is tougher than shooting for films than. “I have to put in a lot as every single thing in this play is on musical beat. You have to be on time,” he adds.
