Bollywood has, over the years, helped transform many an ordinary looking actor into a stunner. We have seen that happen much too often with the most dramatic being the change that Rekha underwent. In more recent times, we have seen how Priyanka Chopra and Shilpa Shetty changed for the better. Deepika Padukone too arrived with a bang, she was launched by a big Bollywood banner and she was already an established model prior to that. Yet, over the years, we notice a distinct finesse in her onscreen persona.

Deepika’s Kingfisher Calendar series will tell us that much before Bollywood happened, the actor was quite a stunner. However, over the years that she’s been in the industry, she has definitely changed for the better. Otherwise blessed with chiselled features, she was on her way to become way more gorgeous. Her Hindi underwent a change as the years rolled by -- in her initial films, her south Indian accent was quite distinct. By the time Bajirao Mastani happened, she has smartened up and mouthed Urdu dialogues with ease. Be it her clothes or her makeup, over the years, Deepika has only upped the ante.

On her birthday today, here’s a look at the gradual change in her onscreen persona.
