Actor Jeetendra’s cousin, Nitin Kapoor, 58, a film producer, allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the terrace of a six-storey building at Seven Bungalows in Andheri (West) on Tuesday.
According to the police, Kapoor was suffering from depression.
Kapoor was married to south Indian actor Jayasudha, who is a former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Secunderabad.
The Versova police said no suicide note has for the step is being investigated.
According to the police, Kapoor lived with his sister at her residence in Sea Glimpse at Seven Bungalows on JP Road. Deputy commissioner of police, Ashok Dudhe, said, “Around 1.45 pm, Kapoor left her house and went to the terrace of the building and broke the lock . He then jumped off the terrace.”
According to the police, Kapoor had been struggling with financial problems for several years and for the past 18 months, he was depressed. He had been taking medication from a psychiatrist to get over his depression.
For the past month, he had been undergoing treatment at Kokilaben Hospital. Kapoor’s family lives in Hyderabad and has been informed.
The police have not found anything suspicious.
Assistant commissioner of police, DN nagar division Arun Chavan told HT, “No suicide note was found. The body has been sent for a post-mortem. A panchnama has been done at the spot. We are investigating why he took the extreme step. There is no foul play. We will investigate to find out if anyone abetted him . The family has not spoken to us yet.”
