The first trailer of Sonakshi Sinha’s much-awaited film, Akira, is finally out. The trailer was released on Monday evening at the Lala Lajpat Rai College in Mumbai.
Directed by AR Murugadoss, the movie will see filmmaker Anurag Kashyap in a negative role while Akshay Kumar will make a guest appearance.
Speaking at the trailer launch in Mumbai, Sonakshi said, “I am really happy to be part of the film where a woman is doing so much action, it’s a path breaker. I feel all powered-up to punch someone now.”
Talking about Anurag’s acting in the film, Sonakshi said, “Anurag Kashyap will surprise you in Akira and I suggest him to stick to acting.”
Akira is a happy college girl who doesn’t shy from killing people. She beats up people like most of our macho, onscreen heroes with gravity defying kicks and deadly punches.

Sonakshi is said to have performed the high-octane action scenes in the film herself. Her character hails from the town of Jodhpur and arrives in Mumbai to further her education with hopes to erase the scars of an difficult childhood. But unknown to her, Akira finds herself in the middle of something sinister. Suddenly, might lose everything - her family, her friends, even her own sense of identity as someone tries to hunt her down. Now she has only herself to trust and she needs to find the strength within her to stand up for what is right and prove her innocence and attain justice.
Akira is a remake of the 2011 Tamil film Mouna Guru and will release on September 2.
