Delhi-based author Nikita Singh is nothing but a dream for many aspiring writers. At the age of 22, the writer has penned seven books already. So, what’s the secret? Many, including Singh, feel she has got the right opportunity at the right time.

"My parents read a lot. We have a stock of about 12,000 books at home. While I was growing up, I picked up a few books from their collection. I started to write when I was 17 just for myself, and I didn’t expect myself to be a full-time writer,” says Singh.

Her latest book, Right Here Right Now, is a teen fiction which revolves around a 17-year-old girl who finds herself in a hospital without remembering how she got there.

The writer is hoping it will interest fiction readers.Ask her what goes behind writing and she’s quick to reply, "I was 19 when I started writing my first book. I wrote with absolutely no intention of changing the world. I didn’t expect such appreciation. Writing a book was in my bucket list but I never planned anything. It just fell into my lap.”

Singh, who is proud of finishing a book in 15 days straight, is a big fantasy lover. She’s flipped through Twilight, House of Night, Vampire Diaries, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson et al.

"I am inspired by John Green’s seriousness and the play of emotions in Cecelia Ahern,” she says.

On her achievements, the young writer says she couldn’t get enough. "Writing has given me a lot and it is because of my books that I was able to gift a car to my parents last year," she adds.
