Security forces are our ‘real heroes’: Sachin on Pathankot attack

Former India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on Tuesday took to Twitter to pay tribute to the Indian soldiers martyred in the terrorist attack at Pathankot airbase in Punjab, terming the loss of their lives “tragic” and calling them the “real heroes of the country”.

Militants launched a pre-dawn attack on the airbase in Punjab’s Pathankot on Saturday, leading to a more than three-days seige. National Security Guard (NSG) commandos, army and police personnel locked down the base, cornering two of the alleged Pakistani militants. Combing operations are still ongoing in the area though the government said all six militants had been killed. Seven Indian officers died and 22 were injured in the battle.
