A 22-year-old bar girl was killed when two groups clashed over a trivial issue outside a popular commercial complex DLF Cyber Hub in Gurgaon late on Thursday night , police said.
Four people, including a woman, have been arrested. The three accused men are residents of Nathupur village in Gurgaon while the girl , also an employee with a bar, hails from West Bengal.
The deceased, Mahi, a native of Uttar Pradesh, was hit in the armpit and died of excessive bleeding after she ruptured a vein, police said.
“She bled profusely and was rushed to Medanta, the Medicity where she was declared brought dead at 2am,” Sudeep Kumar, station house officer, DLF City Phase 2, said.
Mahi was part of one of the two groups that fought each other with sticks on the Gurgaon expressway at Shankar Chowk near DLF Cyber Hub around 1am over an old accident.
The brawl, according to police, started when one of the four accused - Pooja - reached Shankar Chowk, with her boyfriend and two others. Mahi was already present at the spot with some friends. A heated exchange of words followed and the four accused beat up Mahi, who fell unconscious. The assailants fled from the spot.
“Mahi worked as a bar girl in different clubs on MG Road. There was a blame game on over an accident that took place a few days ago,” said assistant commissioner of police Hawa Singh.
Police said both sides were regulars at clubs on MG Road. The four accused, in the age group of 18-25, were unemployed, Singh added. They have been identified as Akash, Devesh, Mohit and Pooja.
Lined with at least 50 pubs and bars, MG Road, also known as the mall mile, is Gurgaon’s trouble spot where drunken brawls and clashes are normal.
