Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s radio address Mann ki Baat is not just bringing lakhs of listeners to the All India Radio, but also getting much needed mega bucks for the public broadcaster.

According to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, the gross revenue generated via PM’s programme during 2015-16 through advertisements stood over Rs 4.78 crore.

Minister of State for I&B, Rajyavardhan Rathore, said Prasar Bharati has informed that as far as All India Radio is concerned, only the radio broadcast of Mann ki Baat is monetised and other platforms like live streaming or app-based service are not.

“Accordingly, the gross revenue generated via this programme during 2015-16 through advertisements is Rs 4,78,22,480,” Rathore said in a written reply in Lok Sabha.
