Rapper Baba Sehgal doesn’t believe that songs by Yo Yo Honey Singh and Badshah qualify as true rap music.

Yo Yo Honey Singh and Badshah might be belting out of some of the biggest hits but Baba Sehgal doesn’t believe that they are good rappers. The popular rapper composer who has been creating waves with his single Trump Ka Mania feels that rapping involves a lot of poetry, something that he feels is missing from Honey and Badshah’s songs.

“Rap is all about rhythm and poetry. I have been doing it for a long time. I know the complete art of rap. But to say that Badshah or Honey are good rappers wont be true. What they are making caters to film music. They aren’t writing songs that they are probably inspired by,” he says.

“ Don’t get me wrong. I am not jealous of them and personally, I think they have made some fantastic music. But I don’t think one should classify their music as rap, because rap is not always about girls or parties,” he adds.

The rapper who has released a few hits over the years including Chicken Fried Rice and Going To The Gym explains that since he is not associated with any music label, it gives him the freedom to write songs .

“I don’t want to be associated with any music labels, because then they start telling you things and interfere. I have been in the industry for a long time and people still listen to my songs, which means I must be doing something right. I have children coming up to me and saying that their parents too are big fans of my music. That feels really great,” he says.
