Narsingh Yadav started his second innings at a city hotel here on Friday as he tied the knot with Harayana wrestler Shipi Sheoran; nearly four months after the two were engaged.
The wrestler had won the gold in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in the 74kg category and bagged bronze at the Wrestling World Championships but failed a dope test right before the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The tainted wrestler, who has been banned from the sport for four years by the Court of Arbitration of Sports, had credited Shilpi for helping him deal with the turbulent times.
“I had gone into a huge depression at one point of time. Shilpi has helped me come back to normal life with her untiring inspiration and encouragement for the last few months.
“I would not have been able to resume training if Shilpi had not stood beside me all along my crisis,” a website quoted Narsingh Yadav as saying recently.
Shilpi Sheoran is an accomplished wrestler as well and had won gold in the South Asian Games in Guwahati defeating Bangladesh’s Farzana Sharmin in the women’s 63kg final bout.
