A man had a narrow escape when his moving car suddenly caught fire near the Batala bypass in Gurdaspur on Saturday.
A fire tender was called to control the fire, but the car was damaged beyond repair before the fire was brought under control.
The car owner, Harkirat Singh of Batala, who was himself driving the car, said when he entered Gurdaspur, he felt his breath choking. He said he stopped the car by the side of Gurdaspur-Amritsar road and he was shocked to see that the rear part of the car was on fire.
A fire brigade was called immediately, but the time it reached the spot, the fire had engulfed the car.
Harkirat Singh, who was escaped unhurt, said he was going from his house in Batala to Gurdaspur for some business when this incident took place.
